Ansel Adams was born on February 20th 1902,San Francisco, CA and died on April 22th 1984 Monterey,CA. Ansel Adams was born in Western Addition of San Francisco. He was an only child named after his uncle Ansel Easton. Adams was injured in the aftershock of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake at at the age of 4. He was a hyperactive child and was sick frequently and a hypochondriac. He was a loner who was drawn to the beauty of nature. He collected bugs and explored San Francisco's wildest and rockiest coasts.
Ansel Adams did all nature photography all in black and white. To me his artwork looks dark and depressing. It also captures the old school appeal making his pictures look move historical. His focal point is broad, instead of looking at one small part in nature. The way his pictures are taken, seem to make them seem very sacred.
Ansel Adams was an environ mentalist. A lot of his pictures represent what a lot of the western national park looked like before tourism. His pictures represent the importance of solitude. His pictures were personal and political. He believed in preserving the environment, which is clear in his artwork.
I am also an environmentalists that loves the outdoors. I can relate to him being an only child and know the importance of solitude as portrayed in his pictures. I am now encouraged to go out into nature and take photographs on my own. Now i like to use black and white in nature as well.
